The irresistible patterns of feathers drew us to this project. Birds surround us whether we choose to notice them or ignore their varied and delightful sounds and silent swooping through the skies. In this wall piece we play with the intense texture and subtle color variations found in this magnificent species of owl. Native to Maine, often heard in our woods but seldom seen, what a treat to have one perched right in front of you: a messenger from another world, an inspiration and a reminder of the hidden worlds right outside our doors.  The owl and branch are made with a thin veneer of polymer in millefiori marquetry is pieced together to form the top surface of this wall sculpture. The entire piece is backed with 1/4 inch maple plywood and then has a small wooden French cleat adhered on the back to mount it on the wall. As a result the owl and branch actually sit about 3/4” off the wall creating a rather realistic sense of depth.  Edges of the branch and bird are painted with acrylic paints. 15” H x 26” w x .75” D
